Tenaska has nearly 30 years of experience in developing reliable, environmentally responsible energy projects. As California electricity providers strive to meet the requirements of the state’s Renewables Portfolio Standard, Tenaska has been developing and managing solar energy projects in Imperial County.
Imperial County, now home to two Tenaska solar facilities, is a good fit for solar projects, in part because of the attitudes of local leaders toward economic development. They are receptive to business growth in general and recognize the benefits solar generating projects provide for the area, including the hundreds of construction jobs and millions in tax revenue from our projects that further spur economic growth in the region.

Plus, Imperial County has great solar resources (abundant sunshine) and excellent access to the power grid that serves most of California – the largest market for our solar power. Through its Sunrise Powerlink, San Diego Gas & Electric Company has a renewable energy pipeline that delivers Imperial County solar energy to San Diego.
